The Australian School of Mountaineering (ASM) offers a comprehensive two-day wilderness course in the stunning Blue Mountains of NSW, designed to equip participants with essential outdoor skills for navigating the bush, hills, and mountains. This course is an ideal blend of adventure, learning, and practical experience, suitable for beginners or those with some prior experience.
Over two days, you will learn the art of navigation, orienteering, using maps, compasses, GPS devices, and emergency methods using the sun and stars. With ASM''s fully qualified instructors, you will gain the confidence and skills required to navigate off-track with a map and compass, understand topographic maps, use and maintain an orienteering compass, and utilize the Global Positioning System.
The course covers vital survival skills, including planning and preparing for off-track walking, and understanding bush survival techniques, wilderness survival tips, and primitive survival skills. The prerequisites are a keen sense of adventure and some bushwalking experience, which is advantageous but not necessary.
The ASM team provides all technical equipment, delicious lunches, and expert guidance throughout the course. Upon booking, you will receive an information sheet detailing specific equipment and dress requirements. Please inform ASM of any special dietary requirements in advance.
